2nd ALCAR Workshop: Advancing Earth Observation Science in Croatia

This post is also available in: Hrvatski (Croatian)

The second ALCAR workshop brought together leading researchers, geospatial data experts and environmental scientists to present and discuss the latest results of the ALCAR project. This two-day scientific workshop aimed to deepen the understanding of the impacts of climate change and human activities on vegetated areas in Croatia, using advanced methods and satellite data. Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sc. Mateo Gašparović, the workshop served as a platform for sharing results, improving methodology and exploring interdisciplinary applications of remote sensing data in sustainable land and environmental management. A special highlight of the workshop was the lecture by Prof. Dr. Sc. Geoffrey Henebry entitled “Working with Vegetation Seasonality Indicators: Results from Cropland and Grassland Areas”. Prof. Henebry is a full professor with a split appointment between the Department of Geography, Environmental and Spatial Sciences and the Center for Global Change and Earth Observation at Michigan State University. Prof. Henebry is an internationally recognized expert in phenology and vegetation dynamics, he shared key insights into changes in vegetation cycles through satellite data. His presentation significantly contributed to the scientific quality of the workshop and stimulated lively discussion among the participants.
